Pixel Marks scholarship Contest May 1

The deadline is quickly approaching for PixelMark’s inaugural scholarship contest to support local high school and first-year college students interested in careers in marketing. Through the 2018-19 scholarship contest, PixelMark will award three scholarships of $1,000, $500, and $250. Applications must be submitted by May 1. Winners will be announced June 15.

With digital marketing careers on the rise, this scholarship aims to support students who will help shape the future of this field.

High school seniors and college freshmen (16 or fewer credit hours) interested in studying communication, advertising, and/or graphic design are invited to apply. To qualify, students must reside in the El Paso/Las Cruces area and plan to attend New Mexico State University, El Paso Community College, the University of Texas, El Paso, or Doña Ana Branch Community College.

To apply, students must respond to the following question in either a 600-word essay or a two-minute video presentation: "Given the dramatic changes in technology and social media over the last 20 years, what do you think is the greatest ethical dilemma facing marketers and advertisers today? Please cite a recent event where a business or organization faced an ethical dilemma or crisis relating to advertising."

School Safety

School Safety*
There is much concern in our community and in communities
across the country about School Safety, and the broad issue of violence in our schools. There are many contributing factors.

While many people recognize that violence in our schools is symptomatic of a much deeper social/cultural dis-ease,
we recognize that we must take action now to address the symptoms.

Let's come together in civil and respectful dialogue
to explore the causes, the symptoms, and seek solutions.

Three Great Conversations!

nd Amendment issues. Firearms are one consideration among many, and there are many. In this dialogue we'll be focusing on an exploration of the broad spectrum of potential causes of violence in our schools and what we can do about it. If folks are interested in having an informed and civil dialogue that includes varied perspectives about the 2nd Amendment specifically, please contact us at greatconversationslc@gmail.com and we'll schedule it.
